Siemens Medical Solutions Selects Ford Audio-Video as Systems Integrator for Diagnostic Radiology Department at MD Anderson
HOUSTON, TX September 17, 2004 -- Siemens Medical Solutions has selected Ford Audio-Video (FAV) as the systems integrator for six new rooms in the MD Anderson Cancer Center Diagnostic Radiology department. The installation will take place in the observation room and five procedure rooms and will consist of video, audio, control and engineering systems.
The purpose of these systems will be to give the observation room the ability to converse with and view happenings in any of the five procedure rooms. The observation room will have joystick control of two CCD color cameras in each procedure room, one wide angle and one over the table view; both with pan/tilt/zoom capabilities. These images, along with images from Siemens Diagnostic Imagers and the hospital's PACS System, will be viewed simultaneously on the four 40" LCD panels that will be mounted in a 2x2 configuration. A matrix routing system will allow the sources to be routed to any of the destinations, including an LCD panel that will also be located in the room, and a fifth 40" LCD panel which will be placed in the common area adjacent to the observation room. Recording and editing of diagnostic and camera images will be provided by a DVD recording system. One ceiling mounted microphone and speaker in each procedure room, combined with desktop and ceiling microphones and a speaker in the observation room, will allow for full duplex conversations between locations. Control of the system will be simplified with the use of a touch screen display.
